Lunch At The Trout Wolvercote
Lunch at The Trout in Wolvercote can be very busy, even on a Monday. This pub , which is a nice walk North along the Thames from Oxford, has become very popular with tourists due to it's Inspector Morse connections. There is also a connection to Alice In Wonderland close to this location. Worth a walk up for a drink if you have time when you are in Oxford.

In addition to the Morse and Alice connections, the pub is said to be haunted by the ghost of the "fair Rosamund" Clifford, mistress of Henry II. She retired to Godstow Priory just over the Thames from The Trout. it is said her ghost wanders in anger at the treatment in 1191 of St Hugh, Bishop of Lincoln, who ordered the "harlot's" tomb removed from the priory's church where it was the subject of veneration.
