Have got all my equipment back now and am not using my mobile phone for photo's now. When I got down to South Parade I noticed that the billboard has been changed again, this time displaying a more local advert, for St Clair's International School.

Cover The Mound
Not sure if you know it or not, but right in the centre of Oxford is a mound that is sometimes called Jew's Mound, records say that it has been around since the 11 century. Anyway this Mound now forms part of the new Oxford Castle attraction and for a £1 you can climb to the top and get a nice view of Oxford. Today when I walked past I noticed that part of the mound was covered with plastic to keep the weather out and to stop the mound eroding away.

Falklands House Oxford
Oxford and Oxfordshire are often mentioned in the news with reference to RAF Brize Norton, the largest airbase of RAF, I also believe it has the longest runway in Europe.
Apart from this major military base within the City of Oxford we have a number of other military facilities, including Falklands House which is part of Oxford University’s Officer Training Corps great location just near the Railway Station.

International Organisation's Number Plates
A few weeks ago I posted information on the new number plates for the UK, and it had a few hits, so today I saw a number plate from the Diplomatic Series. Vehicles with these plates do not pay Road Tax, and you can tell which country or organisation owns the plate by the first three numbers, the letters D indicates Diplomat and the letter X indicates Official Staff from that mission or organisation. This one seen in North Oxford today belongs to the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts, which is based in Reading. In Oxford you see a few of these types of plates, keep you eye out, and let me know which one you see.

Lower George Street
Sorry for the lack of photo's the last few days. I have had equipment problems and for the next week or so I will be using the camera on my phone, as I can not use the digital camera.
Taken in George Street last night on the way home, the buses speeding along down George Street while a Private Hire Taxi rushed up towards the city centre, a little wet and very cold.

International Water Day
Today is International Water Day, and even with Oxford's inland location water is all around Oxford, this part of the River has a little weir at it which is raised and lowered depending on the flow of the River.

Luminox - 1000 Yours of Oxfordshire
Tonight will be the last night to see this wonderful display in Broad Street, all apart of the year long celebrations to mark 1000 years of Oxfordshire. This photo is of the chandelier, once all the candles are lit it is lifted into the air above Broad Street, what a sight.
Happy St Patrick's Day everyone, I am sure that we will have a Celebration Photo tomorrow.

Oxfordshire 1000 Years Old - Luminox
Tonight in Broad Street Oxford we saw a great display of fire and art to help celebrate Oxfordshire’s 1000’s anniversary. The whole street was a blaze with all different types of fire displays, and the whole area looked like a how I would imagine Saxon Oxford would have looked 1000 years ago, with all the flames everywhere. The event was called Luminox, and if you are in Oxford over the next two days get down to Broad Street as it is on until Saturday Night.
Little hard taking photo’s of fire in the dark, but this one is of one of the artists working the fire, I think there from France.

New Number Plate Year - GK07 XJT
In the UK you can tell the age of a car by the numbers on the number plate,. These numbers change in March and September each year, and as you can see this Mini is less than 12 days old as it has a 07 plate, the plates issued in September will have 57 on them. March and September are when the numbers change. The first two letters are tell you the registration area, so G is Kent and K is Maidstone, the 07 is the year and the other letters are just run off.
PS I collect numberplates, so if you have any spare, email me....

Kite Surfing in Oxford
Water Water everywhere at the moment in and around Oxford, this photo taken today on Port Meadow which is mostly underwater. As you can see with the wind up and the water everywhere was a great opportunity to Kite Surf, less than 500m from busy Walton Street. The house at the far end of the water in the photo are in Lower Wolvercote

High River Cherwell
The River Cherwell is very high at the moment and is flowing fast. The River Cherwell ends as it enters the River Thames in Oxford and this photo was taken today while out for a walk around Christ Church Meadows, lots of bulbs flowering at the moment as well.

Remember The Days
Apart from the University of Oxford which is not really for Oxonians, the city has a number of other educational institutions like this one in the City Centre, Oxford Cherwell Valley College. Not sure how much longer it will be in the City Centre as the Oxford City Council is hoping to use this area for other things

Built in Oxford
The sun was in the right spot today as I drove past the BWM MINI plant in Oxford, so I was able to get nice shot of this great advert on the side of the Mini Plant. Every time you see one of these cars on the road, think that was made in Oxford.
Can you see your country's flag on this very large poster?

Lunar eclipse
Last night there was a Lunar eclipse with started at about 21.30 in Oxford with the full eclipse happening at 22.30ish. I decided to go up to Boars Hill and try and get a nice shot with my little digital camera, and I was surprised with my result. This is just at the start of the eclipse, with the Earths shadow just starting to hit the bottom of the moon.

Cnr Canal and Cranham Street Jericho
Taken this morning on to the corners of Canal and Cranham Streets in Jericho looking towards Walton Street. Years ago Jericho had alot more pubs than it has currently, and from the size of this building on the corner I am sure this was one of them, I will try and find out more about this during the week. Please pop back to see, if I have not updated it by Wednesday, drop me and email!!
