Suspended Parking In Park Town
You have been warned. There will be a film crew in Park Town tomorrow from 0700 to 1700 filming, what I am not sure, but the notice states that all the parking around Park Town will be effected for the film crew to operate safely. Anyone know what is being filmed?

What Colour Bentley Would You Order?
If you are going to own a Bentley you just know some people, not all, bit some people are going to be a little bit inquisitive and maybe have a little look. However if that same Bentley is bright metallic pink I am sure you are going to get a few more looks. While I was outside the Randolph yesterday just about everyone who walked by the Bentley stopped and had a look or took a photo of this car, and I think the hotel liked it parked out the front. Not sure what the numberplate means JAD35 IN?

O'Neill's Irish Pub Closed
O'Neill's on George Street has closed, but only temporality as there is going to be a large revamp of this pub. From what the signage outside is saying this refit should be finished on the 22nd of September when O'Neill's is planning to reopen. However from what I have heard on the street, it is going to be like the old O'Neill's as the live music and partying element of this pub is going and it will be more of a dining/restaurant pub, which is a shame because they would get a fe good bands playing on the weekend in O'Neill's. Anyway we will have to wait and see what the new place will be like on the 22nd of September.
Good News, I have found the same camera that I broke on eBay and have won it, so I should be back with clearer photo's soon, I was going to say better, but I am not sure about that..

Oddbins Gone In Summertown
Recently the Oddbin chain of wine stores went in to liquidation across the UK, which could have of spelt the end of the wine store on the corner of South Parade and Banbury Road in Summertown. How ever the store was sold to Excellar a London based independent wine merchant with a few stores in London and one in Paris. The store looks very simular to the Oddbin store that was here last time I was in the area. I am not sure what has happened to the other Oddbin stores in Oxford, however I will have a look when I am next in the area.

Early Morning Across The Cricked Ground
Taken early in the morning just as the sun was rising behind me, little bit of mist on the ground, and not a soul around. The sky was very pink however was unable to capture it on the iPhone.

St Mary Magdalen Church Door Detail
This Church right in the middle of Oxford is often a little hard to get to because it has very busy roads around it. It is right behind the Martyrs' Memorial and today was the first time that I had ever been in this church, and it is surprisingly very peaceful for the location that it is in. Still not having a camera apart from the iPhone, I have decided to take closer photo's and the detail on the door of this old church caught my eye.

Rainy Oxford Today
Very wet in Oxford today as it rained all day. These guys could not get a seat in side McDonalds on Cornmarket Street, so even in the rain they just sat outside with there umbrella's up to keep them dry, not sure how effective it was.

Oxford Bus Company Ticket Sales
Oxford as introduced a new "Oxford Key" for travel on any of the buses in Oxford which is great for those using any of Oxford great bus routes. If you need a weekly, monthly or yearly pass you can not get it on the buses anymore, which is the only inconvenience, you need to visit one of the company's outlets, like this one on the top floor of Debenham's Department store. I have had to get bus pass, but every time I visit this outlet there is always a very large line, however today I just had to bite the bullet and wait my turn and get my pass.

Blue Bike On Cowley Road
Well I am sure that if you are riding this bike around Oxford and it is not yours the owner will spot you. Cycle theft in Oxford is a big problem for everyone who has a bike, and if you have your bike stolen it can be and expensive exercise to get a new one. Recently I have started to see people painting there bikes in very unique colours or patterns to have them stand out. This one I know is advertising a bike store on the Cowley Road, but I am sure the colour will also put any thief off taking it.

Summertown Shopping Area
The area just North of the city centre of Oxford is called Summertown, think it was were the University staff had Summer holidays, now it is all part of Oxford and within the ring road. On the Banbury Road in Summertown is the main shopping strip for the area. There are also a number of business here, and it was not long ago that Oxfam had there Head Office here.
I am still without camera, just missed out on one that I was bidding on, on eBay this weekend, so this photo was not taken today, not last week.

What Was Missing Is Now Back
Sorry for the photo quality on this photo, but I have had a bad day today, my little digital camera that I have taken all my Oxford Daily Photo's with is malfunctioning and I think it maybe dead. So I am going to have use the camera that is on my iPhone for the next, however until I get a replacement which could be awhile.
Anyway, enough of that, back to the photo. Yesterday I noticed that we had an Oxford staple missing from Queen Street, and we had a couple of guesses on what it was, mrsclucas being he closest, as we do often have a flower seller in this area, but no it was the crepe van. That's right with all the talk of Oxford being the next city that would have civil unrest the owner of the crepe van took it to safe grounds I was told yesterday, but it was back and ready to go this morning.

What's Missing In This Photo
Now this is going to be a bit of a photo for Oxford locals or those who have lived in Oxford. With all what is going on in London and the other city's over the past couple of days, I am happy to report that there has been little unrest in Oxford, in fact I have not seen any thing different apart from a few more police in the city centre, and this empty space in Queen Street.
Never really done an "Ask the viewers" before, but if you know please post a comment, and I will try and get a photo with the missing item in it and post soon.

Free Coke Zero In Cornmarket
There's no better promotion and a free item, so with all Oxford bursting at the seams with summer tourists and the thousands of language students in town, I am sure that Coke Zero was on a winner. Set up in the middle of Cornmaket this attractive young Coke employee was swamped when she started to hand out free sample cans of Coke Zero. I am sure she gave her quota of samples away in no time.

Habitat Botley Closing Soon
It was announced last week that a majority of the stores in the Habitat chain were to close, including the Botley branch, with the lost of many jobs, the only branches to remain open are in London. I did not know when this store was to close, so as I needed a couple of things from my recent move decided to pop down and see what was left, and left the store empty handed as there was not a lot of stock left to be honest. I did see a notice in the window which said that the staff did not know when the store would finally close, they must have getting a lot of questions about that.
I do not get my internet connected for a week, so I am hoping I can keep posting via the coffee shop this week, please keep checking.

Terrace Housing Plus Detail
Nice Summer day in Oxford today, with great sun light. Again I have been flat out with moving, so not the best photo today, but I just walked around Old Headington and noticed the detailed woodwork on a period house in Old High Street Headington, nothing fancy just detail. Why don't we spend the time to build quality housing anymore, are we in that much of a hurry to knock up housing that is not going to last? I think greed and targets from government need looking at.

The Old Book Binders At The End Of The Day
It was going to happen one day, and today was the day that I moved from my apartment that has been home for the past seven years, to a new rental about a mile away. When this day happens, and it will to most, you then realise of how much stuff you have! Where did it all come from?
So today I did not have anytime to get out and take a photo, but I did have time for a nice pint at the end of the day at The Old Book Binders in Jericho, and it was just what the doctor ordered.

Polish Rally Cars In Oxford
A couple of Polish Rally cars visited Oxford today on there way back to Katowice after participating in the 2011 Zlombol event. Chatting to the guys from car 66 and 67 I found out that this is an annual event for cars built in former Soviet communist countries. This year rally started in Katowice in Poland and ended yesterday in Loch Ness, Scotland. The guys where heading home and stopped by in Oxford for a look around and a rest. Have a look at car 67's blog here. Additional Photo's here.
