Oxford Crown Post Office Forsale

I am not sure this explains everything about what the Post Office staff had taken industrial action today do you?  The Post Office are trying to sell or close down a large percentage of the Crown Offices in city centres, these are the Post Offices that "WE" own.  Why are they doing this, for a quick profit as most of the offices are in prime locations and the Post Office own these properties outright.

Congratulations to the 100's of Post Office staff how have decided to stand up for the public and the great British institution in trying to save out Post Offices! And not having had a pay rise in over two years I am sure helped get everyone out.

Out of all the countries in the world no one has successfully privatised the Post Office or the delivery of post, not even in the greatest free market country on earth, the USA is the Post Office private, so why is this government hell bent privatisation?

Vote Mad Hatter Oxford Local Elections

For those of you who live in the University Park's ward of the City Of Oxford on May the 2nd you will  be able to have the opportunity of vote for Mad Hatter in this years local elections. I have just looked on the Oxford County Councils website and there are about 6700 voters in the electorate of which a large percentage are students.  What I like about Mad Hatter is that he has listed his manifesto on his website for all to see, it also makes interesting reading, so have a look here.

Horses On The Meadow In Wolvercote

All this green space so close to the city centre, lets keep it this way.  I have always loved Lower Wolvercote it can feel so far from the centre of busy Oxford, yet it is only a short bus ride away. With the Sun out the place just shines. Always worth a walk up the River or on the Meadow to Wolvercote if you are visiting Oxford for a couple of days, magical.

First Kite Photography Photo

Nice day today in Oxford and I had always wanted to fly my kite and add a camera to it to get a photo from height. I was really running blind with this experiment and I did not know how the pictures would turn out, I set the camera up to take a photo every couple of seconds and let the kite go.  I had very little control over the direction the camera took the photo's and out of the 500 or so photo's I managed to get a few good photos including this one.  Like this one as you can see the path across the meadow towards Oxford and a couple of the horses that are on the meadow at the moment.

Great Weather In Oxford Today

This photo was taken this morning while out walking from the John Radcliffe Hospital into Summertown along the Marston Ferry Road looking across the fields towards the city centre.  Love the colour and also the fact that we are so lucky in Oxford to have a lot of green space in side the ring road, lets hope that it stays this way.

Not Everyone Has A Mobile Phone

It is not very often that you see public phone boxes being used.  At Carfax this afternoon I noticed this older lady on the phone having a long chat to someone.  Public phone boxes are still used, and are still an important public service, not everyone has a mobile phone.

A Great 20% Off Promotion In Summertown

The Powder Room in Summertown have a very typical promotion running at the moment, and that is you can get 20% off until the temperature reaches 10 degrees.  What a great promotion as we have been having one of the coldest starts to Spring on record.  Not sure when this will end, but we have not had 10 degrees in Oxford for awhile.
