The Red Lion Closed
One of Oxfords largest central pubs, The Red Lion has been closed since the weekend. When I walked past this afternoon I saw a sign say this, The Red Lion: Closed due to Badger infestation. I am not sure how true this is, I was under the impression that it was closed for a short period while it is refurbished. I understand that when reopened it will have a larger dinning menu. Not sure, anyone have anymore information.

Must have been a bunch of very thirsty badgers!
We in the badger community would like to assure you that the closing of the Red Lion has nothing to do with any infestations of our kind. An infestation of badgers is something to be welcomed, and would certainly not necessitate the closure of any drinking establishment.
We have heard on the badger-vine that the Red Lion is due to be reopened as a gastropub. The success (and wisdom) of this bold venture will remain to be seen.
I don't have anything to add unless they are Wisconsin Badgers. By the way, I used to go to school in Oxford (long time ago) and was wondering if a place called Brown's is still around. I used to go there and eat heartily for a nominal amount. thanks.
I bet that just means "Badger Beer". If you have holidayed in Bournmouth its the local brew.
This is a good little earner and will probably stay as a pub.
Notice that the sign says only infestation, not evacuation.
Haha that was me! I did it on the last day of the old Red Lion (I was a bartender there)... We all had a big night and I thought it would be funny to put loads of posters up about Badgers. Can't believe how far it got around! Anyway it was a complete joke.
I know this comment is a bit late but I have just seen this blog and I had to comment.
