Sailing And Fishing On Farmoor Reservoir

I had heard that the water levels at Farmoor Reservoir were getting low on the radio the other day so I decided to pop out have have a look. I was expecting to see them a bit lower from the reports, and maybe they are low for this time of the year, but I did not see anything that would concern me. There are still a couple of boats on the water, including these two. Previous Photo's of Farmoor here.

Sunset At Farmoor Reservoir

Was out at Farmoor Reservoir this evening just as the Sun was setting, it was very clear and chilly.  Nice looking trailer sailor in the reservoir this evening, strange to see a yacht so far inland?

Sailing on Farmoor

Farmoor Reservoir is just over the 5km rule that I set for all photo taken to be in. It is where Oxford sources its drinking water as well as being a place for recreation and leisure. Oxford Sailing Club use the man made lake to teach sailing and have club competitions,. You can also fish, bird watch or just walk around the reservoir. School holidays in the UK, so today there was youngsters learning to sail.

Farmoor From Leys Road Cumnor

Just over the 5Km straight line from Carfax, but I was up in Cumnor this afternoon and the blue sky and water of the reservoir was just spectacular.  Great day for walking around the villages of Oxford, the weather was very kind and all the spring flowers are just about to bloom, next weekend I think you will have daffodils out.  Plenty of water still about in the low area's of Oxford due to flooding.

Hosepipe Ban In Oxford

Maybe my observations of the water level's at Farmoor Reservoir were a little wrong on Sunday, oopps. This was the front page news on this mornings Oxford Mail. The rain we have had over the Winter has not been enough to fill the rivers and dams around the shire, so we could be facing a strict watering ban this Summer.

Chawley Lane Oxford

Photo taken this morning in Chawley Lane Oxford Cumnor Hill, looking towards Farmoor. In this area there are a few new barn conversions which are old barns that have been made into very nice large homes. Most of these barn conceversion have a great view out over Oxford.
