Took these photos on Sunday at the Cowley Road Fringe Carnival, that took place in the side streets of the Cowley Road. These clowns were aptly performing in Circus Street as part of the Oxford Circus School. The bottom clown was pretending to be an orangutan and chasing someone dressed up as one - but she was not playing! The street was enclosed with straw bales, lots of equipment in the centre and children learning the diabolo, tightrope walking, the rudiments of the unicycle etc.
Not sure what the consensus was of Cowley Road versus the Park site for alternative Carnival. I do know that no public money was spent on the Cowley Road Fringe, hence its low key feel. But it was a truly local event and enjoyed.
