Just on the outskirts of Oxford if you are coming from London and the M40, are fields of blood red poppy's. They look so dramatic but are so hard to capture on the camera, I could not do them justice, this was the best shot that I could manage, just wish I could do a little better. I don't know what they are growing them for? Poppy seeds perhaps?
Beautiful, I wonder if they're a change from the yellow oil seed rape flowers?
ReplyDeleteI think the photo's wonderful! Like a painting.
ReplyDeleteI suspect they are being grown to make morphine for hospitals.
ReplyDeleteIt's a really good year for poppies, because of the hot dry conditions we've had - they aren't planted for any purpose, they just turn up self sown, I think if you went into the field you'd find it was wheat or barley, with rogue poppies growing inbetween. Gorgeous though!
ReplyDeleteWhatever the use is, it makes for a fun photo shoot.
